Ewan Spence, from AllAboutSymbian, is attending MIX08 and managed to get a few minutes with Brad Becker, who is the Group Project Manager for the User Experience Platform and Tools Marketing Group at Microsoft for a nice chat about Silverlight, which we announced earlier last week as coming to Nokia’s product lines, including their Symbian S60 handsets.
Notice Brad’s statements that there won’t be a ‘Silverlight Lite’ for mobile devices (may be he wanted to say “…like Adobe’s Flash Lite”). It will be the same for all, though applications will likely need to be recompiled for mobiles. As Brad points out, this works good because developers will be able to take the guts of their application and tweak it specially for the mobile.

If you are interested in seeing video interviews of people from different mobile companies who attended the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona last week, go to this link . This gentleman with the username of servicesmobiles in YouTube has posted some 53 videos of the show and most of them are interviews. I was pretty impressed so just thought of sharing.
The much talked about Nokia Touch Screen UI was demonstrated in multiple places in the Mobile World Congress last week. Here is a video showing the demonstration.
This is certainly an interesting thing. The Indian telecom company Spice has come up with a ‘Blind Phone’ yes, it is a mobile phone for the blind.

A new bookmarklet called iTransmogrify promises a solution for the problem with iPhone’s Safari browser where you can’t see embedded Flash - for example, if someone’s embedded a YouTube video in their blog. It also means you can’t use some Music 2.0 services which use Flash streaming to deliver music. Coded by a chap called Joe Maller, iTransmogrify basically converts embedded Flash content into native iPhone formats. He’s making it work with various sites and formats as he goes along, with users queuing up with requests on his own site. It’s certainly an impressive bit of development work, and shown off in the video above.
See the Video Demo and read More on the iTransmogrify website.
Windows Mobile 7 will dramatically change the way we use mobile devices. It will emphasize the use of touch on the device, as well as motion gestures created by using the device. It is, absolutely, Microsoft’s effort to beat back the iPhone, and the iPhone is referenced several times in the document. Read the more than 3000 words article here
