I am very sure that,  this is going to be great news for many of us. You know why??? - Adobe developing Flash for iPhone via SDK

Adobe is in the process of developing its own Flash client for the iPhone, company chief Shantanu Narayen told investment experts during a conference call (registration required). The executive revealed that Adobe has obtained the publicly available Software Development Kit and intends to release a version of the animation plugin through the App Store as soon as the software is completed. Narayen stated that analysis by the company suggested a form of Flash could be developed without requiring special access to Apple’s mobile Safari browser and that it would be an important launch regardless of how it arrives. “We believe Flash is synonymous with the Internet experience, and we are committed to bringing Flash to the iPhone,” the Adobe head noted. “We have evaluated [the SDK] and we think we can develop an iPhone Flash player ourselves.” Read More

1)  Flash Lite has Shipped on Over Half a Billion Device - It was only a few years ago that Adobe was passing the 20 million unit shipped milestone and the 100 million mark was a much desirable number to reach but, its 500 million my friend. Its a very very impressive number. Flash Lite shipments have experienced 150% year over year growth and are now delivered on devices from every major handset manufacturer worldwide including Nokia, LG, Motorola, Samsung, Sony Ericsson and many others.

2) Microsoft Licenses Flash Lite 3 and Reader LE for Windows Mobile – Along with this, Adobe also announced that Microsoft has licensed both Flash Lite 3 and Reader LE for inclusion in Windows Mobile devices world wide. Under the terms of this agreement, Windows Mobile OEM’s will ship both Flash Lite 3 and Reader LE with their products world wide.  This is an important win for Adobe and for our developer community and is one more agreement that validates the demand for our technologies in the market.

Ewan Spence, from AllAboutSymbian, is attending MIX08 and managed to get a few minutes with Brad Becker, who is the Group Project Manager for the User Experience Platform and Tools Marketing Group at Microsoft for a nice chat about Silverlight, which we announced earlier last week as coming to Nokia’s product lines, including their Symbian S60 handsets.

Notice Brad’s statements that there won’t be a ‘Silverlight Lite’ for mobile devices (may be he wanted to say “…like Adobe’s Flash Lite”). It will be the same for all, though applications will likely need to be recompiled for mobiles. As Brad points out, this works good because developers will be able to take the guts of their application and tweak it specially for the mobile.

Andy Rubin, the man behind the Android and who is also the Director of Mobile Platforms at Google gave a demo of Android to BBC on a touchscreen phone. Android is still in Alpha but, look at the demo, this guy looks pretty stable. Anyways dont waste time and look at the demo

India, the world’s fastest-growing mobile market, added a record 8.77 million mobile phone connections in January 2008, according to data released by telecom regulator Trai on Friday. Industry sources said the additions in January could be the highest-ever recorded globally. China, the world’s largest telecom market, added 8.42 million subscribers in the month of January, led by a 7-million addition by China Mobile, the country’s dominant GSM operator.

India added a total of 8.77 million mobilephone connections during January, against 8.11 million connections in December 2007. However, wireline connections registered a decline of 0.03 million subscribers to 39.22 million in January. The total number of telephone connections reached 281.62 million at the end of January, against 272.88 million in December 2007. Tele-density increased to 24.63% at the end of January.

This might sound like a bit far from reality but, the point to note is that the combination of technologies used here are already with us. In his own words Petitinvention says, “This is what I wish the internet search will be able to do with a mobile device in the NEAR future. Touch screen, built in camera, scanner, WiFi, google map (hopefully google earth), google search, image search… all in one device. Like this way, when you can see a building through it, it gives you the image search result right on the spot.” I guess by now you have the tiny idea of what we are talking about.
